Field Expeditions
Wadi al-Jubah Archaeological Project (1982 - 1987) Republic of Yemen The American Foundation for the Study of Man mourned the untimely death of its founder, Dr. Wendell Phillips, and the active expeditions ceased. However, at the request of the Government of Yemen combined with the support of the AFSM team, Wendell's younger sister, Merilyn Phillips Hodgson re-activated the organization in 1986. The return of the AFSM to Yemen was a celebrated event and several years of research were conducted resulting in the publication of five scientific volumes. |
