Timna Archaeological Project (1950)In 1950, the American Foundation for the Study of Man began exploration into South Arabia, beginning with the Qatabanian capital of Timna (aka Tamna) in its South Arabian Expedition I. This was the first major scientific expedition ever to explore the region and their work helped to determine the correct historical chronology and serves as a foundation and basis for the research that continues to this day.
